The CHPA Educational Foundation (the “Foundation,” “we,” or “us” ) welcomes you to (the “Site”). The Foundation respects the privacy of personal information you choose to provide through this Site. Please read this Privacy Policy to learn about our personal data collection and use practices. This policy may change from time to time, so please check back often. The Foundation is the nonprofit educational foundation of the Consumer Healthcare Products Association (CHPA). All references to the CHPA Educational Foundation in this Privacy Policy shall also be deemed reference to CHPA.

Collection of Personal Information

In general, you can visit the Site without telling us who you are or revealing any personal information, which is any information that identifies you individually (such as your name, postal address, or email address). However, we do collect the following categories of information when you access certain features offered through this Site, such as ordering publications we provide:

  • Contact Information, including name, email address, mailing address, telephone number [other contact information];
  • Profile Information, including any publication you have ordered;
  • Financial Information, such as your credit card number and expiration date, where appropriate to process a financial transaction you have requested;
  • Correspondence you send to us.

Automated Information Collections

When you access pages on the Site, we automatically collect and store your Internet Protocol (IP) address. In addition, we may collect other information including your device type; browser type and version; operating system and platform; Internet service provider; web sites that referred you to our site, or sites that you visit after using our Services; and the date and time of your visit. We will use this information (1) to help us to identify anyone who refuses to comply with our terms of use; (2) to identify visitors who threaten our service, Site, or others; and (3) to measure Site traffic, which helps us to understand how people use the Site and how to improve it.

Use of Personal Information

The Foundation may use personal information that we collect in connection with operating the Site and providing products or services identified on the Site, including:

(1) for the purpose for which you originally provided the information;

(2) to respond to your questions, comments and requests for information or to send you notifications about your account or the Site;

(3) to allow you to communicate with us or others, to the extent allowed by the Site;

(4) to analyze your use of this Site, enhance existing features, or develop new features, products, or services;

(5) to send you information about the Foundation, or any of our other products or services;

(6) to help us evaluate existing and additional services; and

Disclosure of Personal Information

The Foundation will not share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.

However, we may share personal information with third-party vendors and service providers, in limited instances, that provide services to us for a variety of business purposes,  such as billing, payment processing, customer service, email deployment, security and performance monitoring, maintaining or servicing accounts, processing or fulfilling orders and transactions, verifying customer information, research, data hosting, auditing, and data processing. We may also disclose personal information to other users as directed by you at the time of collection, with our affiliates or subsidiaries, or in connection with a corporate transaction involving the Foundation.

We may share anonymized data we collect with CHPA members in certain circumstances. This data includes IP address, unique device ID, browser information, geographic location, how a user came to the site, and device behavior on the site.

We may disclose personal information in response to legal requirements, subpoenas, court orders, or legal process, in response to a request for cooperation by a government agency, in response to suspected illegal activity or violations of our terms of use, or to protect our rights or property or those of third parties.

Finally, we may share aggregate information about Site users and usage with third parties, such as government agencies, advertisers, and the media.

Data Retention, Security, and Integrity

The Foundation maintains reasonable security measures to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, such as loss, theft, interference, misuse, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. However, no method of transmitting or storing electronic data is ever completely secure, and we cannot guarantee that such information will never be accessed, used, or released in a manner that is inconsistent with this policy.

Information will be retained only for so long as reasonably necessary for the purposes set out above.


When you visit the Site, we may assign your computer a “cookie” (a small, unique identifier text file) to remember who you are. We also may include other information in our cookie files; for example, if you arrived at the Site via a link from a third-party site, we may include the URL of the linking page. You may opt out of the cookies delivered by the Foundation by changing the appropriate setting on your browser. Please be aware that opting out of the Site’s cookies will disable all cookies delivered to your browser, not just the ones delivered by the Site. We may combine the information we collect through cookies with other information, including personal information we have collected about you through the Site or from other sources, including third parties.

Information for Users Outside the United States

The Foundation is headquartered and provides services in the United States, and so this privacy policy is subject only to the laws of the United States.  Please be aware that information you provide to us or that we obtain as a result of your use of the Services may be collected in your country and subsequently transferred to the United States or to another country in accordance with applicable law.  By using the Services, you consent to the collection, international transfer, storage, and processing of your information.

As a convenience to you, we may provide links on the Site to other Internet web sites, including third-party sites that provide information about us or our products or services.  Unless otherwise indicated therein, your use of these third-party sites is governed by the privacy policies of those sites, not by this policy. When you access third party web sites, we encourage you to consult those sites’ privacy policies.

Safeguarding Children’s Privacy

The Foundation does not knowingly collect personal information or other identifying data from children under 13 years of age unless permitted by law. Should a child whom we know to be under 13 send personal information to the Site, we will immediately delete that information from our database.

Changes and Questions

We may change this Privacy Policy. If we decide to do so, we will notify you of any material changes by sending you an email at the address you provided to us or by posting those changes here.
